The Auditors Office will be hosting a Forfeited Land Sale on October 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Belmont County Courthouse

The Belmont County Auditor will be holding a Forfeited Land Sale on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room on the Lower Level of the Belmont County Courthouse, 101 West Main Street, St. Clairsville. 246 properties did not sell after being offered twice at Tax Foreclosure sale that has been forfeited to the State of Ohio.

The initial bid is set at current taxes and court costs due. If the property receives no bids, it will be offered at a minimum bid of $300. The winning bidder will pay the deed, conveyance, and recording fees. The sale is an in-person auction only. There will be no pre-bids or negotiations. Any taxes, charges, or costs not covered by the sale will be remitted. If there is a Federal lien, the Federal Government has the “Right of Redemption” and may re-take the property for one year after the original foreclosure was filed. The buyer will receive only the amount paid at the Auditor’s sale and no more, regardless of improvements done after the purchase.

In an effort to expedite the morning's registration process for the Forfeited Land Sale, the Belmont County Auditor's Office is now pre-registering those who will take part. You may register before the sale in person at the Belmont County Auditor's Office by mail, fax, or email.
